Sustainability

Kind to Earth and People

Built to Last

At Bampo, sustainability begins with durability. We craft handbags that endure-timeless in design and made with top-grain leather and Dong-cloth, a traditional fabric strengthened through thousands of hammering repetitions.

Every detail is carefully considered to create a bag that stays by your side for years, reducing the need for replacements and minimizing waste.

Sustainably Made

We value traditional skills and the health of our planet. That’s why we choose Dong cloth, dyed with plants like indigo and gardenia root, and set with natural substances such as egg whites and collagen from cowhide. We also increasingly use vegetable-tanned leather for our bags.

Additionally, all fabric scraps are repurposed into charms and small leather goods, minimizing waste as much as possible.

for Local Communities

At Bampo, sustainability goes beyond product design and environmental care—it also means supporting communities and preserving culture.

That’s why we established the Dong Tribe Cultural Center and stores in Guizhou, creating a space where artisans, designers, cultural groups, and visitors come together to collaborate. This “Folk Art Ecosystem” nurtures traditional crafts while promoting both economic and social sustainability.

By providing local jobs for women and farmers, we empower families to thrive and remain in their mountain homes, reducing the need to migrate for work.
