Rooted in History

At Bampo, we help keep the ancient art of Dong cloth alive. This rare fabric, known for its deep blue-violet shine, is made entirely by hand. We first found it in a remote village and spent years learning the craft. Then, we worked with local artisans to turn it into modern handbags.

We also drew inspiration from ancient myths, shaping the bag hardware like the hulu (gourd)—a symbol of health and fortune, passed down through generations.

Comes from Nature

Nature inspires everything we do — from the way our bags are designed to the materials and techniques we choose.

Drawing from the majestic landscapes of China, our designs echo the rhythms of the earth and the harmony between humanity and nature — from the curve of mountains and the shape of the moon to the blooming lotus.

We also honor nature in practice by using plant-dyed Dong cloth, vegetable-tanned leather, and time-honored craftsmanship rooted in tradition.

Embracing Every Story

6,000 years ago, in the Yellow River basin, the Banpo people lived in harmony with the earth—crafting, farming, and thriving together as a community. Their way of life, grounded in connection and shared purpose, inspires Bampo today.

We carry more than a name—we honor the spirit of embracing every story. From East to West, city to village, our bags are made for every woman, for every moment—whether commuting, traveling, or gathering with loved ones.

Made to Make a Difference

To the Environment

By purchasing Dong cloth at above-market prices and using traditional plant dyeing methods, we help preserve sustainable practices. These efforts support a positive cycle of culture, economy, and ecological care.

To the Local Community

For each Dong cloth bag and other Bampo bags sold, we donate a portion through the Bampo Folk Art Foundation to support local artisans and safeguard traditional craftsmanship.

To Women and Families

We’re committed to creating income opportunities for Dong tribe women. By enabling them to work from home, we support families in staying together—allowing mothers to care for their children while earning a stable income.
