Founded in 1997

The first BAMPO store was built with a simple question " Why such a beauty is locked behind glass" after an artist visited an old museum.

Started by an Artist

In 1997, an artist stood before a 6,000-year-old pottery basin at the Banpo site. Painted with a human face and fish, it came from an ancient matriarchal tribe where art was part of everyday life. He was deeply moved.

Art should live with us, he thought — not stay locked behind glass. That moment sparked a dream. The artist started Bampo, named after the place that inspired him.

Today, BAMPO carries forward the spirit of the Banpo tribe — honoring heritage, celebrating femininity, and bringing art into daily life.

Our design philosophy

Staying true to original design, we draw inspiration from history, the beauty of nature, and the stories around us—using premium leather, crafting with heart, and bringing each story to life. Shape, essence, and soul are at the core of our design philosophy.

Shape

Visually capturing the forms of Chinese gardens and other elements.

Essence

Refined from Eastern aesthetics, like the subtle beauty of emptiness.

Soul

Infused with the soul of nature — rivers, wind, and wandering minds.

Rooted in history

History is not just words in books, but a living heritage we can carry forward, transforming it into new forms of art that are both beautiful and functionable. It inspires us to uncover the craftsmanship scattered through history and bring it to life for both inspiration and practical use.

Comes from nature

Nature inspires everything we do at BAMPO. We value and protect it, and it provides us with the natural dyes that bring our designs to life.
