BAMPO’s Art Office Receives Honorable Mention at IDA Design Awards

BAMPO’s Art Office has received an Honorable Mention at the IDA Design Awards. This recognition celebrates not only the excellence of the space design, but also BAMPO’s exploration of integrating Eastern culture, artistic expression, and contemporary workplace concepts.

For BAMPO, an office is more than a place for work. It is a space that carries the brand’s stories, cultural values, and connections between people. Designed as a journey that tells the story of BAMPO, every area from the entrance to the workplace reflects the brand’s evolution, design philosophy, and ongoing exploration of cultural heritage.

Upon entering BAMPO’s Art Office, visitors are first welcomed by the brand’s signature IP, the “BAMPO Fairy,” suspended above the reception area. Inspired by the flying figures found in Dunhuang murals, the sculpture represents freedom, creativity, and the pursuit of exploration, bringing a sense of Eastern cultural imagination and vitality into the space.

The office is built around an earthy color palette, featuring natural tones of soft brown, beige, and gray. Combined with warm yellow lighting, the space creates a calm, welcoming, and comfortable atmosphere.

Unlike conventional offices with bright white lighting, BAMPO adopts softer warm lighting to reduce visual fatigue and provide employees with a more comfortable environment that supports focus and creativity.

Natural materials such as wood and stone are widely used throughout the space, adding subtle textures and warmth. These elements soften the workplace atmosphere, creating a stronger connection between people and the environment.

Following the spatial journey, visitors enter a cultural corridor inspired by the art installation “Irreversible Forward,” created by BAMPO’s founder and designer Huang Lang.

As an extension of the artwork, the corridor brings artistic expression into everyday work life. The walls showcase BAMPO’s design recognitions and brand milestones, allowing employees and visitors to discover the brand’s journey from cultural roots to contemporary expressions.

The design inspiration for “Irreversible Forward” comes from ancient symbols discovered at the Banpo archaeological site. More than 5,000 years ago, early Chinese communities used symbolic patterns to enrich their daily lives, and these visual languages continue to reveal their unique beauty and vitality today.

Based on the concept of “Beauty Across Time,” the artwork draws inspiration from traditional culture and reinterprets ancient symbols through a contemporary design language. It reflects respect for Eastern aesthetics and cultural heritage, while symbolizing the continuous exploration of beauty across time, art, and history.

Continuing deeper into the space, visitors arrive at BAMPO founder and designer Huang Lang’s office, where the art installation “Journey of Life” is presented on the wall. The artwork invites everyone who works at BAMPO, visits the space, or has contributed to the brand’s journey to leave their signature, making each individual mark a part of the artwork itself.

 the idea that everyone connected with BAMPO becomes a co-creator of the brand’s story. Each signature records a shared journey, while every name represents a unique connection between individuals and the brand.

For BAMPO, growth is not built only through products and design, but also through the contributions of every employee, partner, and individual who has been part of the journey.

BAMPO integrates a curatorial approach into workplace design, allowing art, culture, and everyday work to coexist naturally. More than an office, it is a space for collaboration, creativity, and growth — while also serving as a platform for storytelling, artistic expression, and cultural exploration.
