The Dong Culture Exhibition officially opened in July 2018. It takes place at the Zhaoxing Dong Village Cultural Exhibition Center and features four themed halls: Music, Costume, Architecture, and Local Culture.
This was a brand-new challenge for us, requiring six months of dedicated effort to complete!
【Music Hall】
The Music Hall serves as the main theme of this exhibition, exploring four key elements of Dong musical culture: Lusheng (bamboo reed pipe), Covenant Ceremony (Kuan Yue), Dong Opera, and the Grand Choir.

【Lusheng Section】
The Lusheng Hall features two actual Lusheng instruments used in traditional performance competitions.
The ambient sound comes directly from those competition recordings — the music descends from above, echoing endlessly!
(Note: In 2006, the Dong Lusheng was included in the first batch of provincial-level Intangible Cultural Heritage lists. In 2008, it was further recognized as a national-level Intangible Cultural Heritage item.)

【The Music Museum's Agreement】
The museum's floor projection displays Chinese texts documenting agreements related to the Liudong area.
There is also a giant wooden musical installation,
shaped like a winding, moving trumpet,
designed by the exceptionally talented Mr. Gao Xiao from the Rui Gong Fang team.

The musical installation is making sound!
The sound source was provided by Lu Genmao, the curator who is most knowledgeable about the Liudong music festival.
It's all in Dong language, so we can't understand it!
The sound source is very interesting:
It amplifies sound from a very small generator through the installation!
This giant loudspeaker is the biggest highlight of the entire music museum.
A must-see for photos!

What I admire most is our own construction team.
A single hand-drawn sketch,
and the veteran carpenter, Master Zhong, instantly produced this effect;
it took ten carpenters two weeks to complete!
Our team puts their utmost effort into every detail and its presentation.
(Note: In 2014, the "Dong Ethnic Minority's Agreement" was approved by the State Council and included in the fourth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects.)
【Dong Songs at the Music Hall】

【Clothing Pavilion】

【Folklore Museum】

Most of the exhibition photos were taken by Mr. Chen Wenbi, the head instructor of the Dongshang Summer Camp.
This year's summer camp parents, children, and university students on study tours are in for a treat.
Only by visiting in person can one truly experience the stunning collision of modern sound, light, electricity, and traditional aesthetic culture.

Join us for a special Dong culture exhibition!
